Completed my first adventure race!

I’ve been doing a good deal of exercise for a while now and a co-worker suggested I try a triathlon. Well, two trips to the pool where my 10 year old lapped me was enough to end that experiment. I’ve always wanted to try an adventure race and took the opportunity.

So, I chatted with my buddy Luke and he was game. We loosely trained for a little over a month and gave it a shot. We decided to try the Terra Firma Sprint Race in Glen Rose Texas. It was pretty tough… 3 mile trail run, 40 minute paddle and 9.5 mile mountain bike. It was probably the most grueling thing I’ve ever done. End the end though, it was a really cool time.

Due to our… um… manliness, We were able to compete in the “clydesdale” division. We finished 3rd place with a time of 2:54:35.

Family Reunion time.

Our annual family renunion on my mom’s side happened this past weekend. It’s the third year it’s been held in mid June. The highest in person in the family is my mother (Kathy) and her two sisters. Although it’s titled the “McClure” family reunion, you wouldn’t be able to track the families by name. It was held for the second year at my brother Ty’s house on Stillhouse Lake just outside of Belton. It was great to see everyone, and meet a few new folks this year too. It was great to have all my brothers together too as my brother David came in from California.

Sunday… we took out Ty’s latest aquisition, an old boat. It was fun getting wet on such a hot day. We drug the kids around on a tube for awhile… Wheeee!
